FC Barcelona Explores NFT, Metaverse Sector

A soccer team with a devoted fan base in Spain and Europe, FC Barcelona has announced its plans to grow and develop the new business zones that comprise metaverse and NFT. The reason behind involving metaverse and NFT in the business is to increase the participation of the football club using advanced technologies.

Joan Laporta discussed the forthcoming techniques that the club will be pushing towards, stating:

In recent times there has been a lot of attention to blockchain products and services such as NFTs and metaverse. We should be able to offer digital products to our members, our fans that will align with the value of the club and generate a very interesting emotional experience.

Laporta also stated that the club is analysing and investigating the possibility of entering the NFT market shortly, without providing any other information on the subject.

To Remain Relevant, The Football Club Will Implement New Technologies

With more than a history of 120 years, FC Barcelona is investigating the new concepts of introducing new technologies to earn income and meet fans across the globe. The club president also gave a clue about the chances of launching a cryptocurrency that the club will issue. The fan token, which is already available, was published in collaboration with Socios.

The club has already begun to construct infrastructure to support this new route, with Barca Studios, which will centralise the creation of all of the team’s audiovisual offerings, and the Barca Innovation Hub, which will incorporate new technology into the team’s workflow.

Laporta noted that the team was focused on growing to offer new goods and services tied to new technology to remain relevant. The club’s president declared:

We want to generate new opportunities for growth. Our goal is to win titles and to make our fans happy, but we also have to profit from opportunities in the sports industry. It is a matter of survival.

According to an August study, top clubs in Europe have jointly made $200 million due to the fan token fever on the Socios platform, with clubs increasingly considering the production of such assets as a profitable business.
