According to a new press release, Decentraland will organize the world’s first metaverse fashion week (MVFW) to showcase artificial intelligence fashion and wearable tech in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Tommy Hilfiger, Selfridges, Cavalli, Eli Saab, Vogue Arabia, Guo Pei, and others are among the world’s most recognizable fashion labels.
According to MANA’s creative director, Sam Hamilton, while fashion isn’t new to the Metaverse, the need for fashionable digital clothing is on the rise.

“Fashion and haute couture are not new to the Metaverse. Decentraland has been on the cutting edge of rare and in-demand digital fashions since the launch of avatar wearables in 2020.
Since that time, creators have been pushing both the technical and stylistic limits of Decentraland wearables and have created a booming economy with over $1 million in sales of avatar wearables last year,” says Hamilton.
The immersive fashion event, which will feature a futuristic-looking runway, will take place in Decentraland’s new Luxury Fashion District. It will also host afterparties and pop-up metaverse stores.
The virtual runway will be surrounded by a shopping district modeled by buildings from Paris’ iconic Avenue Montaigne, noted for its stylish clothes, boutiques and decor. According to the press announcement, the event will be from March 24th through March 27th.
