A Tamil Nadu couple has opted to celebrate their wedding reception virtually, making it India’s first Metaverse wedding.

Dinesh S P and Janaganandhini Ramaswamy will marry on the first Sunday of February in Krishnagiri district. However, the couple will transport their guests to a virtual location via a login connection on their laptops for their reception.
According to the Times of India, the celebration would be hosted in the dining room of Hogwarts castle, where the couple’s avatar will meet the avatars of their loved ones who will log in from all around the world.
The bride’s late father’s avatar will preside over the wedding reception.
For those who are unfamiliar, Metaverse is a virtual reality environment that mixes augmented reality, virtual reality; and blockchain technology to create a platform for live user interaction via digital avatars.
